Legend of the Morning Glory
Photo Album of World Premier, April 25 & 26 2008
The Legend of the Morning Glory, a new work written by Brenda Wong Aoki, created and conceived by Brenda Wong Aoki and Janet Koike, premiered at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco on April 25 and 26, 2008. Brenda Wong Aoki starred as the storyteller. Music was by Mark Izu playing the base and sho, Christopher Yohmei Blasdel playing the shakuhachi, and the Taiko drum ensemble Maze Daiko. Dancing by KK Aoki Izu. Jael Weisman directed.
Special guests, the Honorable Yasumasa Nagamine, Consul General of Japan in San Francisco and his wife Ayako Nagamine, were honored at a reception after the April 26 performance.
